Photographer's Note

Here is one of the installations found in the halls of the main building of Ellis Island. If you look from one side, you see the American flag, from the other you see the faces of immigrants who passed through the island. Here, I tried to show both sides at once.
Also called "Heartbreak Island" by those who were rejected, Ellis Island was in the first part of the twentieth, the main gateway for immigrants coming to the United States.
The first immigrant's name was Annie Moore, a young 15 year old girl from County Cork in Ireland on 1 January 1892 and the last guy to go to Ellis Island was a Norwegian merchant named Arne Peterssen 1954.
