Vicolo Giacinto Lascaris - Spoleto
We are in the area of the Madonna degli Orti, which is named after a little church now transformed into a private home.
Here were the "folk houses" of the Middle Ages and until I was a child was inhabited by poor people, prostitutes and beggars. Even though it has no significant monuments, the neighborhood has its own charm, made of tranquility, largely inaccessible to traffic without need for signage, rich in spontaneous construction solutions.
Carlo Giacinto Lascaris was bishop of Spoleto from 1711 to 1726 and left us a precious account of his pastoral visits, particularly useful since it occurred after the tremendous earthquake of 1703.
