Photographer's Note

This port city is a major center for tourism in the 60 km long Makarska Riviera. There are mostly sunny, but windy in the winter here gusty wind bora. Round-shaped city lies on the coast of the steep hills Biokovo. The original city has the appearance of the Mediterranean, and a new form of hotels, restaurants and shops. 1.5 km long beach in Donja Luka bay is surrounded by parkland and pine forests in the northwest. Makarska history began in the village of Makar, 1 km from the city, or rather in the Roman colony Muccurum, which was allegedly destroyed by the Ostrogoths. In the Middle Ages Makarska was dominated by Bosniaks, Turks, Venetians and Austrians to 1918.
