Photographer's Note

I found two old houses just off a major highway in Chennai. Both these properties appeared to have been constructed in the 1920s or 30s and must have been magnificent structures at that time. They are now desolate and forlorn and fit aptly into what is called a 'Bhooth Bungalow' in India, which, literally translated, means 'Ghost House'.

Each of these properties had a security guard that makes me believe that these buildings will soon be pulled down, and shiny glass and steel structures will, as usual, come up and disfigure the skyline.

The security guards were highly suspicious of a person with a 'big' camera. With mollifications, both oral and otherwise, I was able to get hold of some shots…
