Photographer's Note

Yesterday, I said I'd raise a glass to you; well, here's the glass!

In La Paz, a town of 200,000 surrounded by brutal desert, very few things are so abundant that they can be considered cheap. Juice oranges, however, are plentiful and tasty. Fifty pesos buys ten kilos from most roadside farmstands, so a tall glass of fresh-squeezed costs about twenty-five cents (US). (I had drafted a long explication, starting with currency conversion rates and ending with the old saying, "A pint's a pound, the world around," but I decided it was a little too much detail!)

Suffice it to say that this is a luxury we give ourselves when we visit Baja.

Technical talk -- I tried to learn a new tool in PP on this one. In the original shot, while the pitcher was nicely vertical, the glass on the right had been distorted by the lens into a lean to the left. I tried some Perspective Correction to make it stand up straight!
