Photographer's Note

Some call it Liquid Gold for its valuable soil building nutrients...others call it Eau de Vache for its heavenly fragrance.
An important part of spring planting is ensuring that the fields will have an adequate supply of nutrients to sustain vigorous plant growth throughout the summer until harvest.
Dairy manure is best used in fields where corn will be planted as it provides an economical source of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium.
Howewer,to ensure maximum efficiency of this practice the manure must be incorporated into the soil as soon as possible. If left on the surface for more than 48 hours you lose half the nitrogen value.
This is why we follow immediately behind the manure spreading with a disc harrow to mix it in with the soil.In fact I shot this from the open door of another moving tractor as I harrowed which might explain the poor quality image.
I have started a Spring Crop Planting theme is you wish to follow the season's work.
