The "Sound the Alarm" statue is one of 10 in Red Deer's Public Art Ghost Collection. These bronze statues were initially started by the Downtown Business Association, but has been managed by the city since 2007.

Sound the Alarm was designed in 1999 by Robert K. Spaith. The city of Red Deer's website provides the following description of the statue. "Excitement and tension were a big part of fire fighting in Red Deer's early days, as men and horses were called to action. The excited horses in this bronze can hardly be restrained as they are being hitched to the fire wagon and the driver hurries to throw his coat on."
