Photographer's Note

Now a peaceful and sparsely inhabited backwater, the Jemseg area was once a fiercely contested military outpost and trading centre in the 18th century, which culminated in France ceding Acadia to Britain. Travel and trading were widespread in this area due to the confluence of many rivers and lakes, with the Jemseg River flowing between Grand Lake and the St. John River. Today the area is a paradise for fishermen, waterfowl hunters, and nature enthusiasts.
