Photographer's Note

Much photographed I know. As an architect,I loved this perspective. You can see very well how immense and complex this stucture is.

The architects Anthemius of Tralles and Isidorus of Miletus, were in charge of design and construction.

It took one hundred master craftsmen and ten thousand labourers five years, ten months and four days, from February 23rd 532 to December 27th 537 to complete.

That's one heck of a Gantt chart - thankfully they used scrolls back then ;)

*Snuffleupagus is a puppet character who is a bit too large in an adorable and plodding way.
