Photographer's Note

This photo is of the High Lights at North Shields. This was one of two lighthouses near the mouth of the Tyne used by mariners to negotiate the treacherous black midden rocks. They used both lighthouses to line up the lights to give them safe passage into the Tyne. The lighthouse is no longer used and is now a house with a fantastic view of the Tyne.
