Photographer's Note

Earlier in this cruise, I posted a picture of two people rolling a rope on a bobin: this was the day when Gijs made the very old fashioned log (not the less old patent-log we had been using during the cruise). The very old one was just a triangle of plywood with a hole in each corned to attach a rope, to be used a sea floating anchor when counting the knots tied to the rope. The device had been left somewhere for a while, but today Gijs decided to make a try with it. Which gives us:
- in worhops 1 an 2, Gibjs letting the rope go when Jason was counting the knots, and
- in the main post here, rolling back the rope (with from left ot right, Gijs, Jason, Andreas and Ben).
The test just proved totally unsuccefull, someting as 1 knot of difference compared to our real speed (probably something wrong in the counting, or in the knots, or...).
Anything, it was something different to do for half an hour!
