Muckle Flugga
A few series of pictures of the return journey and this travelogue is complete.
From Seyπisfjφrπur (Iceland) back to Hirshals (Denmark), a minicruise of 39 hours at sea with a short stop in Torshavn.

Today's photographs may not be of the best quality, the conditions were not optimal for that, but it is an interesting and special place.
We pass here the northernmost point of Great Britain, the small island of Out Stack or Ootsta in Shetland, Scotland. Out Stack is the small dark island on the left of the picture. If we go from there to the right we see the lighthouse on the island Muckle Flugga at the same height, slightly the right of the middle of the photo. Between Out Stack and Muckle Flugga we see on top of the mountain the Remote Radar Head Saxa Vorda, a radar station operated by the Royal Air Force.
The photo of WS1 zoomed in on the lighthouse. The small black dots on the photo are not dirt on the lens but the numerous birds flying around the islands.
In the photo of WS2 we sailed 20 minutes further to the east and take a looked in the western direction, a last view of this most northerly point of Great Britain.

Muckle Flugga
The name comes from Old Norse, Mikla Flugey, meaning "large steep-sided island". It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.
According to local folklore, Muckle Flugga and nearby Out Stack were formed when two giants, Herma and Saxa, fell in love with the same mermaid. They fought over her by throwing large rocks at each other, one of which became Muckle Flugga. To get rid of them, the mermaid offered to marry whichever one would follow her to the North Pole. They both followed her and drowned, as neither could swim. (source: Wikipedia)
