Photo of The Toolbooth in Aberdeen. This very beautiful building was the townhouse for many centuries. Today it hosts a museum about History of Aberdeen.
Aberdeen is the third biggest town in Scotland, with more than 200,000 inhabitants. It is also one of the richest scottish towns, thanks to oil exploitation in North Sea and a very attractive port. Most of the buildings in the town are made with granite, causing the town to be called Granite City sometimes. You could think it makes it a very austere town ... But any sunbeam gives nice colours to the buildings and Granite City turns to Silver City !
The town is also known as one of the most flowered town of Great Britain : it received many prizes and is sometimes called Flower of Scotland. This comes from Robert the Bruce : to thanks Aberdeen people for having supported him, he gave them the Stocket forest of which incomes were used to make the town more beautiful.
In brief, Aberdeen is an interesting place to stay before discover the famous Malt Whisky Trail, not far from here !
