Photographer's Note

Velyka Horozhanna* is a village 40 km south from Lviv. Between 1882-1920 my wife's great-great-grandmother ran the Post Office in Velyka Horozhanna. There is a new Post Office building these days, but the house opposite the Post Office may have been standing at the same place for all these years.

*) in Polish Wielka Horożanna - according to the agreements of the Yalta Conference of "Big Three" (President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill and Marshal Stalin) were decided new borders of Poland and the Lviv's area was integrated after the World War II into the Soviet Union.
