Photographer's Note

This massive statue just outside the city center is referred to by many names, including "Mother Russia", "Mother Motherland", and the colorful local nickname "Tin T*ts". Taller then the Statue of Liberty, its staggering 102 meters stands atop the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, which is what the eastern European front of WWII is referred to as here. It is a tribute to the millions who lost their lives during the conflict.

You can't miss this statue as you drive into the city, as it looks out across the Dnipro river. The museum underneath does a nice job chronicling the war itself and the huge toll it took.
