Photographer's Note

"We all came down to Montreux / on the Lake Geneva shoreline" - these are the opening words of "Smoke on the Water", recorded by Deep Purple at the former Grand Hotel in Montreux, in December 1971.

So I made the "pilgrimage" trip to Montreux and as I saw some mist on the lake waters, with the beautiful Alps on the background, really wanted to make a "Smoke on the Water" shot.

And then I found these flowers and I took this shot, probably accentuating their height, "as tall as the mountains". There are about 24-25 flowers in the frame, I hope it's not too crowded.

It's a scan. I leave the original color and saturation parameters. I filtered noise, cropped and removed a few scratches. I've added a less bright version with stronger colors in the WORKSHOP, although the one I post as "original version" looked to me more delicate.

By the way, every summer Montreux hosts a very famous jazz festival. If you love jazz and you love taking pictures - it's very recommended to attend. Slightly adapting the closing words of "Smoke on the Water": "You'll make the place to sweat / No matter what you get out of this / I know, I know you'll never forget"
