Photographer's Note

What I like in this photography are the differents contrasting landscapes, many as we can observe at this period of the year, whereas snow did not reach lowest altitudes yet. The brownish colors of the vineyards with their interesting patterns, in front of this mountainous white and this perfectly blue sky gives a beautiful 3 levels depth. Towards the left on the top of one of the mountain, you can see some anti-avalenche barriers of protection. You can see many of these evewhere in Wallis. Avalanches are rather frequent at certain period of the year. Moreover, in 1998 if I remember well, the village of Evolene, located in the Valley of Herens has sudden a catastrophe of this kind where several people sadly lost their life. The present sight was taken facing the Alps at the north side of the Rhone, between Sion and Sierre. That's the sunniest side of the Alps in the Rhτne Valley. Tomorrow, I'll show you how shadow covers the southern side.
