Arιvalo, the city of Five Lineages


Arιvalo is also an acquaintance as city of five lineages, for is this the number of families that entrusted themselves of to organize the repopulation and to govern " his ground ". They are such lineages:

- Briceρo: his coat of arms has in golden field a crowned eagle and in the fringe that surrounds the sails of San Andrιs. They were watches of the castle and his burials and meetings did in Sta. Maria.

- Montalvos: his shield in silver field with eagle in the center. There was entrusted them the safekeeping and defender of the bridge of medina. They founded his burials in San Miguel.

- Sedeρos: I shield in golden field and in him a golden eagle. They were defenders of two shutters and scaffoldings of Saint John, along with the church of the same name where they celebrated his meetings and San Jose, in the current lookout of the Adaja.

- Tapias: coat of arms in white field, with six black crows with peaks and golden paws. They had his meetings on the first Friday of every year in the Church of St Martin.

- Verdugos: coat of arms in golden fields, with a lion rampante and for fringe the sails of San Andrιs. Defenders of " bridge trowel " in the Adaja in that, in the castillete of entry, they had his ancestral house. On having eliminated the church of San Esteban, his burials went on to the Church to the Convent of San Francisco.

The Arch of Medina is a neoclassicist of brick, with pediment and curved fins finished off with balls escurialenses, a shield of the city much eroded in granite, and some Mudejar reminiscences in his stirrups as testimony of permanence of a way of constructing. It was constructed in 1976 as arch commemorative and restored in 1985, as the bridge has been Good of Cultural Interest was declared.
