Photographer's Note

With this photo I am finished, the series that I have climbed on the beautiful island of Ibiza.
Then begin the one dedicated to the island of Sicily.

----------

With hardships and delays, the work was finally completed by the end of the 17th century. In 1835, the confiscation of Mendizabal forced the dissolution of the community of friars and part of the building of the Church of Santo Domingo became the City of Eivissa, and even today it remains its headquarters.

It stands out for the frescoes in the main nave, the work of the Mallorcan painter Vicente Matas (1884), as well as the decoration of its eleven lateral chapels, especially that of the Santo Cristo del Cementerio, an image venerated since ancient times and to which protection is granted. of the island of infections and epidemics. The altarpiece of the main altar is Baroque, carved in Genoa, place of origin of the architects who designed the temple. It is presided over by a carving of San Vicente Ferrer.

Surely, the most distinctive feature of the Church of Santo Domingo is the domes of its chapels. Topped with ocher tiles, they contrast with the whiteness of the walls and give the exterior a singular beauty.
