Photographer's Note

Koper is the largest Slovenian city on the coast, and the only large seaport. The city has a very interesting, but still concealing many secrets history. The town's origins are not known, probably all started with a Roman settlement on the Island Goat.

Island then passed from hand to hand until it finally with the entire Istria came under the rule of Napoleon. French emperor ordered the burial of lagoons and connecting the city with the mainland, in order to facilitate its development. Unfortunately, by the way demolished a large part of the old city walls. Joining completed before the outbreak of the First World War. In Koper every step is influenced by the Venetian, among others. in the form of a winged lion associated with Saint Mark. In the old town you enter the gates only preserved Renaissance Muda. Here there are many places to visit: Medieval Shoemakers Street - the main street of artisans and merchants, fountain de Ponte of stone and marble, the fifteenth-century palace Almerigogna, Praetors Palace, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the oldest buildings in Koper - Romanesque Baptistery of Saint John the Baptist from urban high bell tower, and the oldest church in Koper - rotunda St. Elijah. The square Brolo are located two Venetian tanks and three palaces.
