Wall-Painting in the Skadarlija-Street in Belgrade

Skadarlija is the former artistic and bohemian neighborhood of Belgrade. Initially inhabited by Gypsies, in the late 19th century the important Serbian poets and painters settled here. Therefore the comparison with the Paris district of Montmartre.

Today's pedestrian area with its old paving stones and houses from the 19th century is certainly one of the most atmospheric stations of Belgrade trips. Many souvenir shops and art galleries are located here. Above all, one can try the Skadarska wonderful food - a number of traditional restaurants serve the typical Serbian cuisine.

You could see here one of the restored houses (done in 2008)
