No. Rich countries don't waste money.
Portugal may be a rich country for a few, but not for the vast majority of people. It is the country with the shameful record of the highest ratio of poor versus rich in the European Union.
This image is not a funny photoshop. There were indeed double traffic signs in Cruz de Pau, during the days when all were substituted in several locations (like in background also).
Why good, clear traffic signs were replaced by other good, clear traffic signs with the same information? I can not find a reasonable explanation, but I guess that at least a maker or seller of traffic signs is now very happy that the city administration (of Seixal) decided to waste public money (our taxes) in this unjustified way.
By coincidence, the same day I've found other double signs (in paper) precisely in the Taxes Office of the same city: see it in workshop.
Isto o que acontece quando os poderes pblicos decidem desperdiar o dinheiro dos impostos de todos ns. No concelho do Seixal vrias placas em bom estado foram substitudas por outras exactamente com a mesma informao. Quem ganha com isto? No sei; mas os fabricantes ou fornecedores de placas devem estar satisfeitos com estas decises da CM Seixal. A foto foi tirada na Cruz de Pau, durante a fase em que estiveram placas em duplicado. Por coincidncia, no mesmo dia encontrei a umas centenas de metros daqui outro "excelente" exemplo da gesto dos dinheiros pblicos: mais indicaes em duplicado, ironicamente na Seco de Cobrana da Repartio de Finanas; v workshop.
