The common blue butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) can be found in Europe and in North Africa. The butterfly is small, wingspan about 28–32 millimetres. Females differ in appearance from males, in my photo you can see a male.
Most often, they can be found on fields, meadows, forest clearings and fallow land.

This may be a common butterfly, but it is uncommonly beautiful. The soft blue and grey tones and the dark details are extraordinary. You captured it with superb sharpness and a very nicely blurred background.

Hi Ryszard,a perfect pic for treknature too,showing this species very common in my country too in a good minimalistic composition,the sharpness isn't the best but this one were very old and damnaged. Great gift to the butterfly fans like me and Silvio. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

there are some butterfly lovers on TE that will enjoy this one for sure. Its important that you captured the bg blur too, that makes a big difference. smart placement too, as the butterfly is offset from the middle. lovely blues vs greens, I like it. cheers

What a precious picture of this beautiful butterfly on the dried flower ! It’s superbly neat against the blurred background.
It is all the more valuable when we know that insects and butterflies are disappearing fast due to pesticides and pollution. However, I hope you’ll be able to photograph a lot more !
