Photographer's Note
This is the last village before the frontier with Belarussia. Technically speaking European Union ends here and one kilometer from here towards east the empire of the current version of dictatorship starts, the remainings of the previous communist era.
There are the villages not far from here, to the north, where the borderline divides the places into the Polish and Belarussian halves. Interesting to see your uncle being a citizen of a different country.
And my observation on the european borderlines: please have a look at the map of Europe. Polish eastern border is the only European one which is stright as all those post-empire era borderlines in Africa. Uncle Stalin and his collegues thought in a very geometrical way while setting the shape of this country.
PS. Leaving this evening for a week to see the most western part of EU :-))

czesc Jurku!
Fajne ujecie. Czyste i wyraziste ;-) Zawsze mnie zastanawia, jak to mozliwe ze ludzie nadal mieszkaja w takich warunkach, choc pewnie fajnie sie patrzy na takie chatynki wsrod drzew i zieleni...

Hey Jerzy,
excellent shot. You left the colors natural this time. I like them this way. Yes, the border is straight, telling us a lot about its fakeness. Its strange seein a border like this with a dictatorship. Where are the 1.3 million armed men as on both sides of the border 50km from me?:) Looks rather peaceful.

Hi Jerzy,
The trees have no leaves, this on almost end of April! A picture from one century ago Jerzy, but I like this calm place, excellent composition and nice colours.
Have a nice weekend,
John

Hej,
Eleganckie ujecie. Kolory sa ladnie nasycone a i kompozycja ciekawa. Nie jestem wielkim fanem zdjec dokumentalnych, zwlaszcza gdy chodzi o krajobraz. Ale to trafia do mnie. A dlaczego dokumentalne. No bo jakies brudy unosza sie na wodzie, galazki "wlaza" w kadr od gory i z bokow. Ale nic to, z racji ciekawego klimatu boire to.
Pozdrawiam!

Hello my friend! I am a new man after this last trip!! Very refreshed!! If I had discovered Canada 15 years ago I surely would have thought of living there! ~ Come to think of it that's not such a bad thought even now!!
Your photograph today - being where it is - reminds me of my 'last bus stop in Poland' images from our winter trip - but this is such a nice spring image, John is right when he says that it seems like 100 years ago - maybe even 200 or more - a timeless beautiful scene.
How was your meeting - was it just with John or did others come too? Where are you off to for the next week?
I'm busy processing my images - but so many to sort through - I've been enjoying getting to know my 5D better - anyway it's good to be back ...and as always my friend you were the first to welcome me!!
best wishes Kev

Great landscape shot Jerzy, and interesting musings on recent Europena history. What I think you should make clear here is that Stalin's 'colleagues', in the case of setting that boundary, were Churchill and Roosevelt, in that political poker game at Yalta.

Hi Jerzy,
Fascinating stuff...I have always had an abiding interest in Eastern Europe and majored in its history in my undergrad university years. Indeed the borders have changed so many times. I like the quiet dignity of this village, the simple rural buildings, and the dignity and cloaking protection of the trees. Well captured, Jerzy. Your note is also bang on...

Witaj Jurku,
S± miejsca w ktσrych gdyby nie przeb³yski cywilizacji czas pewnie by siκ zatrzyma³ w miejscu. Kadr powiedzia³bym ¶wi±teczny i bliski.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
