Rotterdam, Sunday afternoon

Yesterday we had a late lunch in the former ‘Cafι Rotterdam’, now called ‘Rotterdam’ after a recent make-over of the interior. While eating (the kitchen is very good by the way, definitely worth a try) we were discussing the pros and cons of the new set up. The prime goal of the make over was to give the big cafι a lounge and club like feel and facilities to attract a broader public.

We agreed that the operation using an eclectic mix of styles and a horizontal and vertical partitioning of the space worked out as planned, but we missed the austerity and the feeling of sheer space of the former setup that fitted the building, the former ‘Holland America Line’ shipping company terminal, so very well.

Inspired by great high-ISO capabilities of the F10, the lunch was also a neat opportunity to practice taking interior shots with this only moderately wide-angled cam.

‘Rotterdam’ is in the same building as the Cruise Terminal. A picture of both along side the Queen Mary II is here.

PCS2 tech: ran the Pt-lens plug-in to correct for lens distortion, corrected for perspective distortion, de-skewed, slightly cropped, adjusted levels, contrast, saturation and curves differentially; applied the USM @ 4,2 px, 63% , added a frame added and saved for the web.
