A part of the front faηade of the Wilson and Bolles designed new Luxor theater in Rotterdam is displayed here. The letters are lighted at night and greet the traffic coming from the Erasmus-bridge (aka “the swan”). The new Luxor is situated on the Wilhelminapier, the economic center of the Kop van Zuid. On the south bank of de river Maas. The new Luxor seats 1500 persons and is one of the bigger amusement theatres in the Netherlands and home to various forms of entertainment including musical, family shows, cabaret, opera, revue and dance

The parking deck and the glass faηade of the Rijnhaven-foyer at the opposite side of the building facing the Rijnhaven (Rhine harbour) is displayed here.

It replaces the original in 1921 build Luxor theatre that after a series of renovations and modernisation is still operational but which will be demolished with in a year to make room for a massive project (the Coolsingeltoren). So it will be the last time that it will host screenings for the IFFR (International Film Festival Rotterdam) which started yesterday.
In the following week I will probably be posting some IFFR related pics.
