Photographer's Note

It was difficult to leave such a beutifull and sunny place like Marsaxlokk behind, so I'm coming back there just for few minutes.

As I mentioned to you before, Marsaxlokk is a traditional fishing village. Its name comes from marsa, which means "port" and xlokk, which is the local name for south east. The word is related to the name for the dry sirocco wind that blows from the Sahara, comparable to the equivalent Catalan word, "xaloc".

Marsaxlokk is the foremost fishing village and, perhaps, the most picturesque seaside locality in Malta. Fishing nets are often spread on the quay to dry in the sun and, quite often, sturdy fishermen can be seen mending these nets - this accrding to my travel guide. During my stay there it was a carnival Sunday day, so not really a typical working day per say.

Most of Malta's fish supplies are caught by fishermen coming from this port. Swordfish, tuna, and the popular 'lampuki' are caught in abundance between spring and late autumn. On weekdays, the catch is taken to the fish-market in Valletta, but on Sundays fish is retailed by fishermen in the open on the quay.

Wonderfull harbour capture !
Good pov and nice compo with vivid warm colors.
I like the yellow of the boat in the foreground which is a real eyecatcher.
Good and usefull notes as well.

Really a beautiful picture..there was a thought..an intention..a composition in mind..and the execution is just perfect..good use of the light and the subjects..love the arrangement mate..you must have moved around to select the right distribution.

ciesze sie ze wrociles jeszcze na Malte. Chociaz dzisiaj mamy w Dublinie podobne slonce.
Troche ostro dokreciles tutaj filtr polaryzacyjny nie?
Ale koncowy efekt jest swietny, bardzo podobaja mi sie takie silne pelne slonca kolory. Bardzo fajna atmosfera, relaksujaca, sloneczna, wakacyjna.

Wakacyjny klimat, duzo slonca i blekitu, lazurowe niebo, blekina woda i... niebieskie lodki - Maltanczycy troszeczke 'przeginaja' z tym malowaniem lodek na niebiesko :) Znacznie lepiej wygladaja, zwlaszcza odbicia w lustrze wody, biale lodeczki, jachciki, zagloweczki.

I agree with you, this is a tourist atrraction place, yellowish buildings are good contrast to surrounding natural environment, beautiful green sea and blue sky in a sunny day, distinct image shoot under bright sunlight, well done.
