Photographer's Note
A few years after Independence, Riga was undergoing a major face-lift. Lot of the houses were covered with scaffolding. The strong pattern and graphic element of this one captured my eye. I've done some post production on this, particularly colour adjustment (increased the yellow and red). The slide turned out very blue and monochromatic. I tried it in greyscale, but it was boring.

Wonderful pattern, Eva! It doesn't look so safe but it is very very interesting.
Very well well seen!

Outstanding!!!
You are right! The graphic element is the most important and attractive.
Excellent eye for this capture. It has rythm (chaotic, but rythmed) and a rich demonstration of well combined lines.
Congratulations for it!

An excellent graphic image. Even though this covers a relatively large expanse of scaffolding, everything comes together perfectly as an image.

I love this shot -- the patterns, the shadows, the contrasting colors. It reminded me of your Salvador Dali's house shot, and I couldn't resist doing a similar workshop on a little piece of this one. The result is more abstract than the original. See what you think.

This is marvelous. The pattern is really absorbing, I think I've spent a few minutes looking at all the details. It doesn't look like something I'd try to walk across, though.

Incredible! We would say a music page, music keys are missing only. I find this very original composition, you have a very sharpened eye. Bravo for your image.
Incroyable! On dirait une page de musique, il ne manque que les clιs de musique. Je trouve cette composition trθs originale, vous avez un oeil trθs aiguisι. Bravo pour votre image.

All your efforts have paid off well! You've turned a rickety scaffold into a work of art!

I just came across this for the first time. Excellent compo, and very interesing shot. I think now that Riga is in the EU, healthy and saftey practices maybe rather different!

Out of an ordinary subject, you have created a unique composition where the lines, the repetition and the symmetry work together with the colours and the background to give a clean and sober, yet dynamic abstract. This is another photo for the "Guess what that is" contest.
I also like Mimi’s workshop, which turns your image into a beautiful framed painting.

Something unseen in Riga, well, but I was just 15 when the picture was taken... :)
Very interesting and graphic picture, I'm just wondering what building could that be in Riga with so large wall without any windows?! Probably you have some notes...?

Very nice construction art, Eva
The combination of two different layers (the scaffolds and shadow) forms a unigue pattern. Really effective image.
Great eyes.
