Cefal is despite its size one of the most visited points by tourists and travelers who come to Sicily for holidays. Its landscape of small fishing port on the peaceful Tyrrhenian is often a camping for the routes through the island, and its long beaches of golden sand that extend towards the bays of Aranciotto and Settefrati.

The walls still visible in front of the sea belong to the Hellenistic-Roman period. The Arabs conquered the Byzantine settlement, which governed it until the beginning of the 11th century, when the Normans reconquered Sicily. The signs of Norman domination are so numerous that it is no accident that Cefalu is called the "Norman citadel". The most important building is undoubtedly the cathedral, from the beginning of the 12th century.

The fishing district of Cefal, with its old houses crowded in front of the port, is very picturesque.

The long beach of fine sand that extends in front of it, is considered one of the most beautiful on the north coast.
