Photographer's Note
For the "disturbing elements" series, today the protagonists are the electric wires. Fortunately these are not eternal, but they are only the Christmas decorations of the road that leads to the Castello Sforzesco. Surely visiting the city in the evening, they are a great show, and not a disturbance.
The Castello Sforzesco of Milan was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe. Extensively rebuilt by Luca Beltrami in 1891–1905, it now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.More info on Wikipedia.
FILI

Ciao Luciano,
You're right, wires are very disturbing for the photographers and for any city image but, sometimes, in some places where they are always present, we have to manage. Nice image, I only was in Milano in transit so I'll have to visit someday.

ciao Luciano,

Hello Luciano,
In a case like this the wires add a nice graphical element to the composition and don't really disturb the view of the attractive castle, which is nicely framed by the side buildings. I have second thoughts about the very dark lower part and found by using the shadows/highlights that there is quite an interesting crowd of people hidden in that black area. It could have been interesting to get an idea of all these people, unless you specifically kept that area dark in order to make us focus entirely on the wires and the tower. In any case the upper part of the photo is perfect. ;-)
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour, cher Luciano,

Ciao Luciano,
On each of my visits to Milano, I wanted to take a good picture of this tower and the Castello Sforzesco from a distant POV - but always the electric wires were in the way, so I did not.
However, you managed a beautiful compo with the wires and the shadows differentials through. I still got one from Via Dante from a more distant point.
Cheers for this one anyway,
Ike

Ciao Luciano
The Christmas light wires are only temporary so no great drama, plus they more than compensate at blue hour when they are switched on. Good layering and depth in the composition with excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello Luciano.
An intriguing photo, turning a vice into a virtue? The shot of the castello is captured in splendid winter sunlight. I presume you had to do some straightening out of some lens distortion. If you wanted to take a world tour of 'disturbing elements' you really should start in my city, Melbourne, where the many overhead wires - electricity distribution, cable TV, telephone and trams - are permanent, and make getting a wire-free photo of architecture almost impossible. I look forward to more disturbing elements shots.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Luciano,
I have to say I do not remember all these wires when visiting the castle a few years ago, and reading your note I see why:-) I like the point of view on the splendid tower and the light and shadow contrasts. Excellent rendering of the colours and architectural detail.

Hello Luciano,
I like the contrast of light and dark a lot here, the shadows in the foreground make the impressive tower stand out so well in the warm light and in front of the pale blue sky. The many wires add a nice pattern as well.

wires are a tragedy for vistas, but here they added a lot of mood to the compo. marvelous contrast against brown and blue, perfect light showing the beauty of the architecture. I had few time and had being in remote areas of the town hunting monuments and then I crossed this castle in few minutes, going to the gardens ahead. anyway world is so big and my life so short. haha.
take care

No way to avoid the wires, so you might as well make them the topic of the shot. Or at least: the secondary topic. Good composition.

Ciao Luciano,
the lot of the electric wires in front of the main tower of the castle of Sforzesco.I can imagine when the lights turn on during the night the sight must be spectacular.I like too the contrast between the well lighted areas of the image and these which are in the shadow.

Hi Luciano.
Splendid composition with the superb Castello Sforzesco, the backlight of the street makes the building stand out with more strength, lots of cables with lights for Christmas, which at night would be beautiful.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly realized factors, in this beautiful image.
Well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.

Hello Luciano,
It would be disturbing if there were only a few of these wires. But the frame is full of them and so many of them take on a life of their own, I kind of like them. Just imagine the prettiness of this place in the blue hour, with all those lights on.

Hi Luciano
i really like the wires going across the frame, to clone them out would be such a mistake in my opinion. another element I like is how we can see the changing of blue, from light blue mid frame, to more vibrant blues near the top of the frame. love that crimson brown or red/orange colour too. sweet shot from this shaded area. cheers

Hello Luciano,
It is a very pleasing composition, the silhouetted area making an attractive, natural border to the sunlit buildings and statue. Yes, the electric wires are a little distracting but it is easy to see that they are illuminations rather than permanent fixtures. What a wonderful impression they could give at night. I don't suppose you were able to wait around to photograph the night scene! Nevertheless, it s a very well exposed and composed photograph.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Luciano, fruitful visit in Milan. Not possible to do anything with these wires. Maybe it would be better to visit this play in the evening, with the lights. Here they are disturbing quite seriously. Interesting lights and shadows, nice view of the tower.

Ciao Luciano,
Josep

Ciao Luciano,
I remember well this spot! Beautiful architecture captured with plenty of shade in the foreground.
It so happens that I have as well some photos with a lot of wires and some other with plenty of shade. I will post them soon :)
I am recently more and more into natural photos so wires don't bother me and the shade is so natural especially in the city in winter months. The most important is if the main subject is well lit like in this photo here and the rest I see as a framing.
Great reportage from Milano,

Not even these wires demerite the beauty of the castle.
I like the composition in which the dark areas add contrast, I think.
The equestrian statue deserves a close up.

Hello Luciano,
This must be the biggest collection of wires I've ever seen :)
Fortunately they disappear after the festivities.
There exist countries in the world where you cannot take a picture without having wires on the image.
A very beautiful tower of the Castello Sforzesco of Milan!
On this picture the castello is beautifully lit by the sun and stands out well against the dark foreground.

Boa noite Luciano,
Bom trabalho,
