Photographer's Note

Stork - Ciconia ciconia - gathering nesting material. In Denmark these birds are by now so rare, that the arrival of one somewhere in the country is likely to make headlines nationwide. Fortunately, a couple seem to be preparing to breed in the Ribe nest in the south of Denmark at present, so maybe this year a brood of Danish young storks will finally appear after several years without any..
This stork, however, is not Danish. The picture was taken last weekend at the Vogelpark Walsrode near Lόneburg in Germany. If you're ever in that area, do take the time to pay this park a visit, it's a both beautiful and interesting place with lots of birds. Some are in cages or pens, but others roam freely, like this stork seen high up in a tree collecting for the nest. How they make them stay without clipping the wings I don't know, but maybe this chap (or girl) was born in captivity in the park and has never known anything else.
Treatment: Crop, contrast +10, saturation +10, USM and resize.
