Photographer's Note

This is a view southwards from the slopes of the highest mountain of the German low mountain range Eifel. It's called "Hohe Acht" and has a hight of 747 m. The Eifel approximately is situated between the Moselle in the south and the city of Aachen in the north and from the Belgian/Luxembourg border in the west to the river Rhine in the east.
In a great part of the east Eifel a lot of volcano eruptions took place, the youngest only about 11.000 years ago.
Still today the Eifel is known for it's mineral springs and it has a very special institution, the unique Formula-I-circuit of the Nόrburgring. It's only 2 km away from my point of view.
Because of the former complicated ownership structures there are a lot of old castles in the Eifel which were built to protect the borders of the different dominions.
All things considered a very interesting mountain range ...
