Photographer's Note
Might have been taken a few days ago, but is in fact two years old.
The maar lakes of the Eifel uplands are water filled calderas and thus of volcanic origin. From initially over 70 maar volcanoes, there are only 12 lakes left.
Laacher See volcano erupted in 10930 B.C. Pumice was transported by winds as far as to Italy. The lake with its 3.3 sqkm is the greatest maar and also the greatest lake of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Laacher See is a centre of cultural and religious life in northern Rhineland-Palatinate due to its adjacent monastery of Maria Laach.

Hello Sven,
You have chosen a really good viewpoint from which to take this photograph, so that the fallen tree trunk, links with the bowing tree, to create a natural corridor across the water to the distant hills.
The warm colours of autumn are a definite asset.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
You would enjoy a trip to the Krφller-Mόller Museum in Otterlo. There is a lot to see and you can exercise on the bikes, too!
