Photographer's Note
This chapel can be found on a hill overlooking the little village of Unterammergau. The region is called 'Oberland' which means that it is the first level of the Alps coming from Munic in the North. It is 830 meters above sealevel. THe surrounding peaks are 1300 - 1600 meters high.
It is mainly a dairy and woodcraft area. The people are roman catholic in majority and still very sensitive to nature and their belief. Every here and there you can find christian symbols or sacred places that tell stories from the past decades and centuries. Although mid November is usually a winter month the fine and warm weather in 2005 gave opportunity to take this picture with a low sun and grass as green as in summer.

Hi Thomas - remarkable light and exdcellent composition, truly beautiful place, though I do NOT wish to be a cow there.....or anywhere. It's also very warm in California this week.

This is a very well managed composition. Beyond the placement of the church according to the golden rule, I find particularly nice the use of the shade as a strong guideline to reinforce the position of the temple in the frame.
Excellent control of the exposure with many details seen in the shade and a good balance in the bright areas. Still, reducing a bit the highlights could turn the sky area just a little bit stronger with the shapes of the clouds more clear and a stronger blue color. But this is a minor detail.
The landscape is beautiful.
