A Hidden Gem in Wismar

Another impression from one of the streets of Wismar, this time Lbsche Strae. I walked past this old church and admired its exterior, but at first decided not to go inside. I am really happy I changed my mind, though, because the interior of the church was fantastically beautiful as well!

This is the Heiligen-Geist-Kirche (Church of the Holy Spirit). It belongs to the hospital of the same name (Heiligen-Geist-Hospital), which was established in the middle of the 13th century with construction of the church subsequently starting around 1320. The church and hospital are located in the Altstadt (Old Town) of Wismar, which is a UNESCO listed Hanseatic town on the Baltic Sea. The interior of the church is truly amazing with wonderful wall paintings and a gorgeous wooden ceiling, also adorned with paintings. Ive hidden this hidden gem in two pictures in the workshop: WS1 and WS2.
