Photographer's Note

A remarkable defense site on the southern border of Normandy near Bagnoles de l'Orne.
The first wooden castle was built by William Domfront first of Blmme in 1010.
The castle was strengthened in the late thirteenth century by Robert II of Artois.
During the 100 Years War the castle was taken twice by the English in 1356 and 1418.
In 1608 by order of King Henry IV, his minister Sully had to dismantle the castle by gunpowder shots.
