Two of the six continents:

*South America by Aimι Millet

*Oceania by Mathurin Moreau

The Musιe d’Orsay sculptures of the six continents were made for the Universal Exposition of 1878.

The sculptors were: Alexandre Schoenewerk, to sculpt the figure representing “Europe”; Alexandre Falguiθre to create “Asia”; Eugθne Delaplanche, “Africa”; Ernest-Eugθne Hiolle, “North America”; Aimι Millet, South America; and Mathurin Moreau, “Oceania.”

The sculptures graced the Trocadero Palace during the Exposition and then were discarded and found after the Orsay railroad station was converted into a museum in 1986.
