Photographer's Note

This photo was taken at the time of my passage to the Cathare Country in November 2003. It had to undergo final improvements to clear up it and to centre afresh slightly.
The counts de Foix were very implied in the catharism in XIIIeme century.

Here the history of the castle of FOIX (Ariθge) which you can also consult on the following site: http://jeanmichel.rouand.free.fr/chateaux/foix.htm

1211: Raymond-Roger, count de Foix beats Simon de Montfort with Montgeyen.
1214: After four unfruitful seats on behalf of Simon de Montfort, Raymond-Roger subjects himself and its castle is entrusted to the pontifical legate.
1218: Raymond-Roger recovers the castle.
1229: The count de Foix recognizes himself vassal of king de France.
1271: Roger-Bernard III refuses to submit himself to the king and Philippe the Bold one besieges the castle which must capitulate.
