Photographer's Note

I rather doubt that you will like this picture ( like it was also with other pictures , but I do not care, I think it is interesting.
The new here is Carrι d'Art.
The Carrι d'art at Nξmes houses a museum of contemporary art and the city's library. Constructed of glass, concrete and steel, it faces the Maison Carrιe, a perfectly preserved Roman temple that dates from the 1st century BC. In 1984, twelve architects, including Frank Gehry, Jean Nouvel and Cιsar Pelli were invited to submit proposals for the museum. A design by the British architect Norman Foster was selected, and the building was opened in May 1993.

The building was constructed as part of a project to refurbish the square in which the Maison Carrιe stands, and provide a new setting for the ancient temple. On top there is a cafe with terrace that is free to visit, with the beautiful view of the square below. In the glassy surface you can spot the reflection of Maison Carree.
The Maison Carrιe is one of the best preserved Roman temple faηades to be found in the territory of the former Roman Empire.
In about 4-7 AD, the Maison carrιe was dedicated to Gaius Caesar and Lucius Caesar, grandsons and adopted heirs of Augustus who both died young. The inscription dedicating the temple to Gaius and Lucius was removed in medieval times. However, a local scholar, Jean-Franηois Sιguier, was able to reconstruct the inscription in 1758 from the order and number of the holes on the front frieze and architrave, to which the bronze letters had been affixed by projecting tines.
The man in this strange position was sitting there for quite long time.
