Photographer's Note

The Benedictine Abbey of Lonlay was founded around 1020 by William I of Bellme. He appealed to the monks of the abbey of Saint Saint Benoit sur Loire its management was entrusted to Father Gauzlin natural son of Hugh Capet.
The abbey has four major periods of construction: eleventh, thirteenth, fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. The construction of the choir in his first campaign, dates from the years 1025-1026. The abbey chapel is now the parish church of the city.
