Photographer's Note

The town of st nad Labem lies on the river Elbe and three bridges run across the Elbe. We look at them from Větrue hill. The first bridge - the nearest one - is the railway bridge, which was built between 1871 and 1872. Originally it was a two-storey - the upper floor led the railway and the lower floor led the road. In 1945, the bridge was damaged by air and removed in 1958. In the mid-1950s a new bridge was built for railways and pedestrians. Another bridge that can be seen is the road bridge dr. Edvard Bene. It was built between 1934 and 1936. The bridge has two pillars, is arched and steel. The last bridge is visible in the distance, it is a Marian bridge. It was commissioned in 1998 and it is a suspended bridge. The bridge consists of two pylons, each one with a 15 rope. The bridge is 179 meters long, the pylons are 60 meters high, the bridge weighs 3500 tons - in part the steel is partly reinforced concrete.
