Photographer's Note

The St. Alexander Nevsky Memorial Church is built to the designs of architect Pomerantsev from 1904 to 1912. The church, one of the finest pieces of 20th century architecture in Sofia, is an expression of gratitude of the Bulgarian people to some 200,000 Russian heroes who gave their lives in the Russo-Turkish Liberation War (1877-1878.
