Saturday afternoon through Bruges walking with the camera in the hand.

Sint Amandsstraat Bruges

You can see on my picture
I took a break on a couch with a view of the provincial government in distant background, and the people eat almost on the street.

The Sint-Amandsstraat runs from the big Market to the Korte Zilverstraat.
The street was first mentioned in 1297: pro calceia reficienda in vico Sancti Amandi.

The Saint Amands Chapel in this street was built according to tradition by Saint Amandus in the 8th century. The chapel was depicted on the map of Bruges by Marcus Gerards (1562). She was the chapel of the craft of the spice hall, the traders of herbs and groceries.

The chapel was sold in 1797 and demolished in 1817. The vacated space was incorporated into the public road
Where now many small but good restaurants have been made, but all with the old Bruges facades.

I hope that you enjoy it
