Photographer's Note

This is young lady carefully studied the information outside the Porte de Hal in Brussels. I could not resist taking a photo. Porte de Hall is a medieval city gate built in 1381. It is the only preserved gate of seven gates of the second defensive walls that surrounded Brussels. The other six gates have been demolished. During the years it has been used as a prison, a customs house and grain storage. Today it is part of the Royal Museum of Art and History. In March 2007 a restoration of Porte de Hal begun and contrary to other restorations in Brussels that seem to go on for ages it reopened already in June 2008
