A photo from my archive taken in September 2011 in Ghent Korenmarkt, the advertising vehicle of OMER, sorry but I do not drink beer, no advertising for me

History:
Since the Middle Ages was traded corn in this square. On the east side of the square, the St. Nicholas Church was built. On the west side stood since the end of the 15th century the city jail or Chastelet. That prison was demolished in 1716 to make after a few years for a large warehouse. On the south side of the square, at the end of the Veldstraat was the Little Korenmarkt.
In the first half of the 19th century, installed a venture for the warehouse. Near settled several harbouring the square was an important departure and arrival point for stagecoaches. In the second half of the 19th century, the square filled the same role for the Ghent tram, first horse trams and later electric trams.
