Photographer's Note

Yesterday, a cold and bright morning, I put on my comfortable walking shoes and went a walking in my hometown...

This is a classic view of the Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal) fronted by some facades of houses at the Groenplaats. From left to right you see a lace shop, a tavern and a cafι. Note for beer lovers: De Koninck is the only beer brewn within the city of Antwerp itself...also it happens to be one of my favourites.

The Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal) is the biggest gothic church of the Low Countries. They began building it in 1352 and somewhat gave up two centuries later, leaving one of the two towers unfished. I guess it must have been some kind of financial crisis...

This picture was taken from the Groenplaats ('Green Place'), one of our city's biggest squares, which lies to the south of the cathedral. In the Middle Ages this was our graveyard.

Best wishes for 2009 from Antwerp!

PS: Maybe experienced TE-members can tell me it this would classify as a papagolfade, I wonder...
