Rappenloch Ravine

The Rappenloch ravine lies approx. 5 km from the city centre from Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Austria, in the front Bregenzerwald. It is one of the largest ravines of Central Europe and developed by the break-through of the Ebniter and Dornbirner Mountains. At the exit of the Rappenloch Ravine is the lake Staufen, with which over 100 years old hydro-electric power mashine, whose energy operated the spin machines in the textile mill Haemmerle in Guetle, as well as the first fully electrified railroad lines of Central Europe.
