another oldie for your viewing pleasure


DA NANG (in Vietnamese: Đ Nẵng) is a major port city and a commercial and educational center of Central Vietnam. Its well-sheltered, easily accessible port and its location on the path of the North-South Railway also makes it a hub for transportation.

Though not a full-out tourist destination such as Hoi An or Hue, it makes a good stopover about halfway on the way north/south from the south/north.


This picture was taken on one of the small islands just off the main city beach.

It combines many typical Vietnamese elements: the fishing baskets, the typical colours, the pyjama-style clothes of the girl, her slippers, her way of sitting down...

She was dreamily gazing out at the boats coming in from sea.
Maybe her dad was on one of them...
