Hai Van Pass, site of some of the fiercest fighting in the Vietnam war. Over 30 years later, the forest cannot regrow back lush once again, the larger animals are long gone, never to reappear. Where poisons, like agent orange killed all living plant tissue, did irrevocable damage to human tissues, strewn rotting containers, of more poison wait for the future. The Ho Chi Min trail and tunnels carried the food, ammunition and even tanks and trucks, disensembled, and later reinsembled, for the troops of Vietnam. The Tet offence was a bloody carnage, and turning point of the war. Now only the ghosts of those gone inhabit bunkers and tunnels on this misty, soon to rain day. Land mines, chemicals to cause fire, and other leftovers of death, await the unwary footstep.
