Photographer's Note
The Mons in Sangklaburi keep their culture intact. One distinct part of their culture can be seen right in their face. They like putting this "cool" powder. There is a name to this and maybe some fellow trekkers can help me identify this.
Anyway, this boy was sitting near the riverbank when I took this shot. The green background were the shrubs and grasses. He is my most photographed person in this trip and this makes him UNFORGETTABLE. There will be more of him coming.

I was not attracted by the thumbnail, but in full screen, it comes to life.
I wonder if the serious-mindedness of his expression is something you found actually in other Mon people, given their "in-between countries" status? Which brings your picture to ask myself about the Mons more than just looking at a serious little boy.
My imagination again, probably!
In Burma (not far), it's called Thanaka, i am sure the thais give it another name.
I was in Sangklaburi in 1991. I liked the place very much, it was so off the beaten track with very few tourists then. probably not that much more today.

Beautiful shot Manny!
Such a serious look in this young boys eyes- he does not look too happy.
Well controlled DOF, and a great POV.
Well done!

Nice shot Manny. Using the grass as a background almost always looks good and that is certainly the case here. Nice colors and I like how the out of focus hand comes towards the viewer. Good shot.

Yes, he's cute all right. From his look I gathered you didn't win his confidence yet. Technically execution is excellent, I like the tight framing a lot.

Fantastic shot Manny. He has a very serious look on his face and he is looking right down the barrel of the lens. Lovely rich colours and shallow DOF make for a great image.
One very minor point is that I think his eyes could be sharper, his forehead looks sharper than his eyes. Tricky to hit thespot with such a shallow DOF. I could be wrong on this -I've onlyhad one cup of coffee so far this morning! I will come back and have another look later.
Wonderful shot whatever.

Manny, i cannot but love this close up portrait! such a use of DOF! i feel so jealous! all is spot on! Your focus on the eyes is perfect, and i love that blur all around the face and around the eyes... natural effect from the used DOF or pp?
glad to see you you more often here Manny

A beautiful portrait, Manny - to some extent his look and expression seems to be far ahead of his actual age. The tilted position of the head and the shallow DOF contribute to the very appealing look of this one. Very good.

A fine portrait you made (as usual) - I like the intense look he gives you and the "sun-lotion" he uses - thanks Manuel - and yes - I know the feeling of taking 200 shot of a motif - and afterwards having a hard time to decide which one to post - looking forward.
